The cabin filter has several names. One of them is the pollen filter. The name of the cabin filter comes from the fact that it is related to the area where the driver and passengers are. Because cabin filter is the name given to the filter that cleans the air coming into this area.
Another name for the cabin filter is the air conditioner filter. The reason for this name is that this filter has entered our lives with the presence of air conditioners in vehicles. The cabin filter does the job of cleaning the air entering the vehicle from the outside. The air coming from the outside consists of many particles such as dust, soil, exhaust. This incoming air is filtered before it is delivered to the cabin, that is, to the part where the driver and passengers are.
There are two types of cabin filters: the regular cabin filter and the carbon cabin filter. The difference between these two types is due to their structure. Normal filters are made of special filter paper. These filters can only filter solids. They serve to prevent solid particles such as dust and soil from entering the cabin.
The structure of carbon filters is more porous and has a wider inner surface. Thanks to their structure, carbon cabin filters can separate not only solid but also gaseous and liquid substances. In this way, bad odors outside the vehicle are prevented from reaching the driver and passengers part. The quality of carbon filters increases as the carbon content increases. For this reason, quality carbon cabin filters are heavier than others.
The cabin filter is not located where you can see while sitting in the cabin. Vehicle manufacturers can hide the location of cabin filters in accordance with their design. In some vehicles, it can be found behind the glove box. In some, it may be under the place where the wiper fluid is seen when the engine hood is opened.
Cabin filters should be changed periodically. If these changes do not occur, problems may arise in the cabin filters. These problems can also be caused by the cabin filter becoming clogged over time. Blockages in cabin filters can cause insufficient air in vehicles, especially from fans.
